Irish Queenslander Magazine Launch at the QGFHA 40th Anniversary Family Sports – Sunday 4th August

Irish Queenslander Magazine Launch

THE first edition of free magazine Irish Queenslander will be launched at Queensland Gaelic Football and Hurling Association’s 40th Anniversary Family Day on August 4, and it will include a four-page pullout supplement on the history of Gaelic games in Queensland.

The supplement has pictures of some past and present members down through the years and a timeline of events at Gaelic Park, as well as how the clubhouse has changed and the story of recovery after the 2011 floods.

The 32-page, full colour, glossy magazine is the brainchild of Brisbane mum Mary Allen, originally from Cork City, who has worked in the media for more than 15 years. Mary said: “I want all the teams to know that their news is always welcome and I will fit as much as I can into each edition. And I’d like to say a big thank you to those who have already sent me in stories and pictures.”

Each edition will have a column by our President, Seamus Sullivan, giving updates on what’s been happening at Gaelic Park, as well Gaelic football, hurling and camogie news stories and match reports.

The first edition also has pictures from Souths’ and Shamrocks’ recent 30th anniversary parties.

If you’d like to watch GAA matches from Ireland, the viewing times on Setanta are also listed.

The bi-monthly magazine will also have events, news and other sports from all over Queensland, as well as lots of entertainment features.

Each edition will be available, free of charge, at our clubhouse, as well as from Irish venues around the city.

The magazine has a website, www.irishqueenslander.com, and a Facebook page, www.facebook.com/irishqueenslander
